Selection Process UPSC Engineering Services Exam 2021

The Union Public Service Commission shall be conducted preliminary exam, Main Exam and Personality Test for Engineering Services Selection process. First registered candidates will go for stage-I Preliminary Exam (Objective Type Papers). Candidates who will secure passing marks in Prelims exam they will call for Main Examination/Stage-II (Conventional Type Papers). And last Commission will organize a personality Test (Stage-III) of qualified candidates from Main Exam.

  • Stage-I: Preliminary Exam- 500 Marks
  • Stage-II: Main Examination- 600 Marks
  • Personality Test- 200 Marks

UPSC ESE Exam pattern 2021- UPSC Engineering Services Exam Scheme

Preliminary Exam of Engineering Services will consist of two objective types (Multiple Choices) question papers and carrying a maximum of 500 Marks (Paper I- 200 Marks & paper II – 300 Marks). The Engineering Services (Main/stage‐II) Examination will consist of two conventional type papers in Engineering Discipline specific with a duration of three hours and maximum marks of 600 (300 Marks in each paper). Stage‐III will consist of Personality Test carrying 200 Marks.

UPSC ESE Pre Exam Pattern

The prelims exam will be held for 500 marks. In this exam questions will be asked from General Studies and Subject Concerned. Candidates have to solve Paper-I (General Studies-200 Marks) for 2 hours and Paper-II (Subject Concerned- 300 marks) in 3 hours.

UPSC ESE Main Exam Pattern 2021

The Main Exam will be held for 600 marks and it consists of three papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II.  Each paper divided into 300 marks and the time duration will be of 3 hours for each paper. The question will be asked from the respective subject which chosen by candidates at online registration.

Preliminary Exam Paper-I Syllabus (Common for all papers) – The standard of paper in General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (Preliminary Stage‐I Examination) will be such as may be expected of an Engineering/Science Graduate.
