The initial estimate of the film at the box office was Rs 4 crore, but according to the report, the film made a very average opening in the theaters and the viewership remained low.
Jersey Nani’s is the Hindi remake of the Telugu film. Bollywood superstar Shahid Kapoor is playing the lead role in this film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. In Jersey, Shahid Kapoor plays a cricketer whose dream of playing for the country comes true near the age of 40. He decides to return to the field to earn his son’s respect, as the rest of the world considers him a failure. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur.

The film received rave reviews from critics and audiences and was described as the best performance of the actor’s career. Even the real Arjun Nani of ‘Jersey’ praised the film in a tweet.
However, despite all the positive buzz and reviews, Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey started its journey at the box office at a slow pace. According to the initial estimates, it had an opening of 3-5 crores on the first day of release. Reportedly, the Gowtham Tinnanuri directorial is facing some stiff competition from the Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, which is still doing well at the box office. The Hindi version of the action thriller has so far earned Rs 268.63 crore.
Earlier, in one of his interviews, Shahid revealed that he is heavily influenced by the Telugu version of Jersey. This is the reason why he agreed to do a Hindi remake of it.
“I have a lot of love for this film, not just because it’s my film, but because I learned a lot from it when I saw the original. It gave me a sense of hope and never gave up regardless of the circumstances. Manne ki Prerna Di. You can wake up today to chase what you want. That is the spirit of this film and I am deeply attached to it.
